Morley's Final Catalogue: Apparently quite a scarce insect with us, but wide spread. Copdock, once at light (Hkg); Ipswich, twice at light, and rarely in Bentley Woods (Mly). Aldeburgh, Needham, Stowmarket, Bury, Lowestoft, Beccles (Crf); Gorleston singly, in September (Mr) and on a wall by the sea 12 December 1926 (D).
Recent Suffolk Status: Very scarce with a few widely scattered recent records.
Life history: Single-brooded. Adults emerge in late summer and hibernate in caves, old mines etc, where they can be recorded during winter surveys for bats. The moths emerge again in the spring.
Identification: The Scarce tissue has rough scaled wings without the shiny appearance and has pinkish colouration.
Habitat: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows.
