Morley's Final Catalogue: Confined to our coast-line in Suffolk; Barrett's expectation of discovering this species in the Breck appears unfulfilled nor is Salsola Kali, on which the larvae feed at Leiston, recorded thence. A good speries taken during 1901-2, abundant during 1903, at Felixstow (Gibbs); Southwold (Bkr), Covehithe (Mly), Lowestoft (Crf, L); Gorleston (Mr, Wiltshire), and not rare just north of the Yare.
Recent Suffolk Status: Very local colonies in suitable sandy beach habitat along the coast. Evidence of decline at some, possibly due to erosion, but increasing at other sites e.g. Landguard, Felixstowe where sand deposition is occurring.
Life history: Single-brooded. Emerging in May and flying into August in Suffolk.
Identification: Coast dart is very similar but normally emerges much later in the year and has narrower wings with a more obvious kidney mark. Archer's dart has a very obvious large dart mark.
Habitat: Sandy beaches.
