Morley's Final Catalogue: Very local; never seen through forty years (Mly). Foxhall Heath; Blaxhall; Mildenhall and Tuddenham in Breck; Herringfleet and Belton in NE. (ante 1890). Tuddenham, Cavenham, Icklingham (Sparke) and Downham (Norgate), in Breck about 1900. Belton Heath, very rare in August 1927 (Mr); Blythburgh (Btn) and Fritton in 1936 (Gd).

Recent Suffolk Status: Scarce and local, mainly in the Sandlings and the Breck.

Life history: Single-brooded in the summer. Suffolk records are suggesting a partial second brood is developing in August.

Identification: Unmistakable. The males readily fly in sunshine and also come to light with the female more docile.

Habitat: Heathland and woodland.

Recorded in 31 (53%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1900.
Last Recorded in 2026.
