Morley's Final Catalogue: Locally common on oak-trunks in early October. Ipswich (Baylis, Pyett, Platten); Rendlesham (Wiltshire), Ashfield, Helmingham Park, Monks Soham and Cransford (Mly); Gorleston, Beccles & Covehithe (Bkr, Mr); Martlesham & Fritton (D).

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded, the adults hibernating over the winter and reappearing in the spring. Regular at light and Ivy blossom. Has been found at rest on trees and walls covered with Ivy during the day in the autumn and winter in Suffolk. Larvae occasionally noted on Oak in late spring.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland, parkland, gardens.
