Morley's Final Catalogue: Very thinly scattered around Ipswich at Bentley (formerly), one at Hemley (Wlr) and one at light in Martlesham (D); Aldringham in 1930 (Wiltshire); Beccles (Crf perhaps extinct); and in the Breck before 1890 at Tuddenham Fen (Wrt, Suff. Inst. 1870, 220), Downham and Thetford. Larvae singly in Blythburgh Wood, 1936 (Gd & D).

Recent Suffolk Status: Fairly common and widespread.

Life history: Single-brooded. Occasional records of the larvae in late summer in the county. There are two colour forms, green and yellow and they rest curled up.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland, scrub, gardens, hedgerows.

Recorded in 46 (79%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2026.
