Recent Suffolk status: Rare immigrant. The first Suffolk record was on 28/05/2026 in Felixstowe (P. Oldfield), part of an exceptional influx of African moths to the UK at the time. Further records followed at other sites in the following days.

Life history: Double-brooded. The larvae feed on a wide range of plants including Tomato and Chrysanthemums.

Identification: Eastern Bordered Straw differs from both Scarce Bordered and Bordered Straws by the obvious pale triangular mark that cuts into the dark cross-line and by the presence of at least 3 bold black dots along the outer edge of the forewing.

Habitat: Mainly coastal sites but was also recorded inland.
