Morley's Final Catalogue: Very common on low plants, feeding on Dactylis-seeds. Nacton, Foxhall, Monks Soham, Hacheston, Southwold, &c; often sitting in flowers during June.

Recent Status: A common day flying species.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies from May to July. The larvae feed on the seeds of Dactylis glomerata, Schenodonorus (Festuca) arundinaceus and S. pratensis. They enter a stem to overwinter in a cocoon where they pupate.

Identification: The species is often seen during sunny days en masse feeding at brightly coloured flowers. The forewing is a shining grey or fuscous with a hooked apex. There are five evenly spaced silvery white costal strigulae, one on the dorsum, a short one at the tornus and one on the termen that touches an apical black spot. There is a silver grey spot centrally in the apical quarter. All the hindwing cilia are dark. More Info
